Veterinary surgeon Philipp Adam wanted his home and surgery to be under the same roof. This is cheaper and more convenient than commuting to work. Together with his wife, Adam drafted a rough plan for his large and well appointed house, which was then reviewed by a WeberHaus architect. The result is an extravagant and beautiful house in which the veterinary practice takes up almost the entire ground floor. And the residential rooms still have their own ground-level access to the garden.
The house has a large footprint of 17.90m x 11.96m. A large part of this space is taken up by the surgery rooms, which include the reception and waiting room, two treatment rooms, the recovery, x-ray and operating rooms, an employee kitchen and a toilet.
The residential section of the house is just one door along from the surgery. Moving through an extraordinary dining room, flooded with light and featuring a room height of 4.50m, and the adjoining kitchen, you reach the stairs that lead to a gallery opening onto the other residential rooms on the first floor. They include the two children's rooms, the master bedroom, the family bathroom and the shower. The dining room is located on this level too.
The basement offers an astonishing amount of additional space. It features a separate self-contained flat, several service rooms and storerooms for the surgery, a scullery and a hobby room.
